My brother in law and I had Monday and Tuesday off so we decided to try and catch some sheepshead on Monday. It went so well we also went out on Tuesday.
I think low tide out by IOP on Monday was ~4pm (~5pm Tues) and we started fishing with some fiddler crabs right around then. Brought home 5 that day:
That big one was his, don’t remember the length but it was just about 8.5lbs. They were biting for a solid 2 hours, so we ended up going home in the dark. We decided it was worth a shot to try again Tuesday, with similar results. Only brought home two fish just because we didn’t feel like cleaning any more. This one was my first cast:
~20.x inches.
We’ve attempted to catch sheepshead maybe once or twice before with no luck. The last two days certainly made up for it.
That’s no secret sheep spot but it doesn’t need any extra pressure. Consider the other folks that also fish there when you think of posting pics of where you were fishing. Not everywhere has to look like behind Goat Island all the time.

And nice catch I haven’t got any really good ones yet this year
If there’s a more obvious spot I could have been sheepshead fishing on IOP I don’t know it. Although we did only see 1 other boat pass us by on either day.
dude to hell with the whiners on here. If you want to show a pic without whiting it out like the fags on here cause you are intelligent enough to realize theres enough fish to go around then kudos to you!!
Totally agree Sniper7. Why bother posting pics of your time on the water if you are that worried about the background and possible “pressuring of the fish”. I tell folks exactly where i was, what time, and what bait i was using, and you know sometimes people are there at a later date when i get there and i dont care,i move on and try to find another spot to fish. The hunt for the fish is what makes it fun for me.
Just my two cents.
Hell of a job adam7, looks like a good time. I just started targeting sheepshead this past weekend but didnt have that kind of luck. Did get LOTS of bites and misses (need the proper hook). We were right next to the pylons 40 feet from the launch at Remley’s. I sure hope nobody is there pressuring those fish when i get home in 3 weeks. I would know where to try in the millions of acres of water to fish in Charleston!!
right and i had sheepshead tacos last night. they were delicious. just saying some places are pressured enough without the inter-webs. why help the lazy fisherman. god knows theres enough of them. relax boys.
Thats a nice sized sheep. Personally I don’t post pics with obvious backgrounds because I have personally seen masses of people near the same docks I fish after I made the mistake of posting a pic a couple years ago. You would be amazed at how many people watch this site and specifically look for locations they can “steal”. I wouldn’t tell anyone they shouldn’t post though, just speaking from experience of what can happen.

Nice! Next time post a pic of you eating it at home, but be careful because someone might steal it off your plate!
And Al, I hear you on that. But how great is it to roll up to a spot you’ve got wired, to see 10 other fishermen there, and still be the only one putting consistent fish in the boat?

Exactly. You’ve got to know more than just where, got to know when and how too, sometimes you have to hold your mouth just right…
There aren’t many secret spots, in fact there probably aren’t any secret spots inshore. My grand daddy done fished them all long before I did

Lol very true, i’ve out fished guides that anchored up within 30 feet from me. I don’t like getting within 50 yards of anyone though, even further is preferable. The docks I fish are a small area, if you arent within 10 feet of the hole you aren’t catching much.

Nice fish man, and who cares if you don’t white out a pic. I tell other people where I’ve been catching fish, I enjoy helping other people out catching fish. If I find a fishy spot, and someone ask where I was. I will tell them the exact spot. It’s not being lazy, if they go out on the water and try.
