Hit the water early this morning. There were several boats already trolling the waterway. I thought it was going to be a good day. We never found the trout, but it was not for a lack of trying.
I was quite surprised, there were tons of boats out on the water despite the rain. We gave it up around noon with one dinky trout.
I just can’t get the hang of this trolling for the trout. Trolling with the tide and trolling motor I could feel the bottom pretty good. Trying to go against the current with the main motor, I could never feel the bottom. Everybody out there was just zooming up and down.
It’s all about finding the right color, and if the fish are biting. Last year, candy corn was the supposedly hot color, but I caught most of mine on a chartreuse curly tail with a red head, and a few on electric chicken. Just keep swapping out if others are catching and you aren’t.
You weren’t holding your mouth right, and you must’ve spit on your hook!!! LOL Maybe you were going to fast or too slow. You may have just been where they weren’t too. You know how fishing goes.
