Finally got out Saturday, fished the tourney out of The St Johns Yacht club. Covered a lot of ground, from folly landing up to Ravenel Tressels. Went 2 for 3 on the trout on my first 3 cast using topwater to start the day so thats always nice.
Forgot how amazing it is catching fish on top early in the morning. Ended up catching 20+ reds, and 7 trout. All the reds were either 15-16" or over slot so not great for a tourney but lots of fun. Ended up catching two decent ones around 18-19" right at the end to at least weigh something.
Felt good to get back out and find the trout and bass.
Ended up being able to weigh in two decent bass and trout aggeretly for the tourney so it was a good finish.
Fish were hitting on top and bottom. They ate Top water, Clear/Glitter DOAs, live shrimp, minnows and multiple ZMAN baits.
First half the day was really nice, and the tourney had 130 anglers, and from folly landing to the tressels I might have seen 5 or 6 other boats. I love this side of the world not hardly ever anyone around!
