Headed out to Edisto a banks to try for wahoo and blackfin. Tried bait, lures and high speed but nothing but Bonito. After a couple of hours headed in to some bottom numbers and did well with the triggers and BSB, with a few vermillion thrown in. Nice ocean and the boys got some time on the water before heading back to school. Really glad to get some trigger in the freezer.
How big were the bonitos? You should of gave slow trolling a live bonito a try, they do it down south with success.
Nothing like bottom fishing in charleston in the winter. 1 gallon per fish :(. Good haul though and those triggers look delish.

I’ve fished bottom twice in the last two weeks, and have not been successful with triggers, although we did well with most others. We fished live bottom in 80 ft., mostly drifting. Can you, or knowledgable others, help me out on depth, rigs, structure, etc? Thanks .

My son and I said “fishing on Credit” a lot Friday. That and “I think I have some real estate” . Words learned from my Father and Uncles.
