Man! talk about a slow reel needed for the retrieve. I was so slow you think I was reeling backwards. Took 7 nice trout and one was 21 inches. Thru 5 back and even managed a flounder, but too small.
Started 8:00 AM with popping court and artificial shrimp (not a voo doo), brown with specks. Folks pulled up across from me with live shrimp and cork. They caught some pretty quickly. Took my cork off and tried the bottom before I was going to leave and go get shrimp also.
No luck in 20 cast. THEN I remembered to SLOW DOWN from reading post here and when I thought I was slow enough to go slower.
BINGO! 2nd cast nice fat trout.
It was crazy because I am so use to bass fishing. But sure enough with in an hour I caught 13 and kept 7.
Sometimes. I would miss the set and let it fall back and start again and then bam.
I actually got to see the 21 inch take the bait just about 8 feet off the bank. When I just missed the 1st bite. I pulled and a soon as it started to settle back down. I saw the flash
and a good fight.
Thanks to the board and much talk about slowing down the retrieve.
