Took my sister, youngest son, and niece out for a few hours on the Cooper, Friday. Wasn’t expecting much but, turned into a nice day.
Everyone caught fish, including me with my personal best Red yet, 37.5", I even had to pull anchor and chase him down with the trolling motor to keep from getting spooled. Caught 3 trout, 3 Reds, 1 gar, and 5 catfish. All on mud minnows and shrimp on the out going. Kept a couple for dinner. SO wish they would Dredge out Bushy Park!! Have to stay on plane practically to the dock to avoid sitting down in the mud!!
Great weather, great catching, great eating, nothing broke, and the Kids had a blast.
excuse the pics if they are not right, or too big… haven’t posted in a while
Thanks! my youngest asked me today why we he has to go to school and why we can’t just fish.lol
Going to try again in the AM with my Dad. Opposite tide and going to try just artificials so, we’ll see how it goes… any advice on fishing with out live or cut bait is appreciated..lol

Thanks for the report and great photos. I’m glad y’all caught some fish and spending time with your family out there is priceless, whether you’re catching or not.
As for fishing with artificials, I just fish like I do when trying for bass. Troll or drift along the bank and cast to places where you think they might be-points, docks, oyster beds, drops, grass edges, etc.
Vary your retrieve. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower, bumping the bottom. Sooner or later, something will bite.

Fished just like I do bass fishing, varying retrieves of grubs and plugs with a few hang ups in between. We ended up with a decent 1/2 day with the artificials. Caught a great Red and 1 keep trout on grubs. Also caught a few keeper & one Nice Trout on my favorite Topwater. Once it hit about 75 degrees out, we decided to call it a day. Kept 4 for dinner, ended up being more enough for the Family & the Grand Parents. Learned a little bit too! Ready for this Cooler weather to roll in, going to try new water on Sat.
Quick Question? I prefer the outgoing and 1st coupleft hours of the incoming for Bass fishing in the Cooper. What tide do ya’ll prefer in the Cooper & or Wando for Trout & or Reds?
Thanks ya’ll
