I was feeling a bit under the weather at the beginning of the week so i slept in monday and didnt get to work until noon. I got to work on time or early and worked late the rest of the week, three of those days at both jobs. Even worked all day Sat. So,with all that work going on, i planned for Sunday to be a day where i did nothing unless it was fun and i wanted to do it. Called up my buddy yesterday evening to see if he wanted to fish and of course, he excepted my invite. However, he said he had someone coming to look at his old car that he is selling at 11 am. Not sure what time but I woke to a down pour and thought,“great my sunday funday is ruined”. Went back to sleep and woke up bit later and it was just a little rain. Laid around for a bit,(rain stopped:smiley:) went and bought my weekly boxes of ammo, got my anchor light jerry rigged for the ride back to the ramp this evening, and ate some breakfast. Called my buddy and we planned on meeting at noon to go catch some fish.He was a bit late but we Got the boat in the water by one and was casting the net for scrimp at about 1:30. I hit my go to shrimp spot which is on a muddy bend in a creek. I have been catching them on one side of the bend for a few months and was only able to get like 10 there today. Went to the other side of the bend and got 30 more real quick. We were at spot one by 2 o clocked and armed with 30-40 live scrimps and a pile of artificial baits. I started throwing a gulp swimmow and Dave a live shrimp 24 inches under a cork. On my buddy’s fourth or so cast,he hit right on the spot and i said,“dont move that, just lest it drift down to that dock.” About 3 seconds later that cork went under with authority and drag started peeling off. It was my buddys personal best red at 23 inches but he fought like a 30 incher since he got down current(which was moving pretty good. I hooked three in a row and had them on but they came off. Inspected my hook and found the point was no good, it was rounded off a little. Changed hooks and back to fishing. Problem s
