115 evinrude alarms

Used to be when I first turned ignition key a beep would sound that I understood was the alarms for hot engine or low or no oil were working. The last 2 times I used the boat this beep did not come on when I switched the key on. Motor has run fine, just wondering if this is something I need to get checked out? I’ve always carried a gallon of oil in case the engine was not getting oil,but with my limited knowledge I would assume without the alarm the engine would be blown before I knew it wasn’t getting oil. Its a 1998 115 evinrude. Has anyone had any experience with this. Thank-you for any advice.

do you have a sensor tach with the lights at the bottom?

ChrisV,thanks again for your time to reply, since this boat is pretty old,can I still get a tach for it? I haven’t really been under the console to look what it would take to change it out.
