Headed out of Port Royal around 8am. It was still a little choppy and very cold so we stopped in 60ft. of water about 8 miles past Betsy Ross. It was wide open with small fish. After about what seemed like 50 or more short Black Sea Bass etc. It had calmed down a little so we headed out to some 80ft. numbers. Not much at all there but it was starting to lay down so we headed out to 110ft. numbers. There we found good bottom fishing BUT! This was the last opportunity for Red Snapper for a while and that’s what we really wanted. After releasing several Red Snapper over the year I really thought we had a good chance. Not one Red Snapper caught all day! We ended up with limits of Vermillion and Triggers and a dozen or so other misc. Black Sea Bass etc. It calmed down for a full speed 35+ knot run home. Cold all day. BRRRRRRRRRRRRRrr
Good trip in spite of the cold.
That’s odd on the red snapper. We’ve had good luck with them in that depth recently (just couldn’t keep them).

“Back home we got a taxidermy man. He gonna have a heart attack when he see what I brung him”
I guess its too late but for what its worth, we went couple of weeks prior and caught nothing but little porgy, bandits in one spot in 100 ft and moved maybe a half mile to another spot in same 100 ft depth and caught as many 15 lb snapper as we could handle. Good job going in the cold.We are headed out this sunday
