Decided to take the kids out for a quick trip in the afternoon before the rain. Picked up some bait at Davids and launched from Barstow. This was my first time on the lake in the day since daylight savings. It started to drizzle as soon as we dropped lines so I knew my time was short with 2, 6 year olds and no rain coats. Only fished an hour and got two keepers. One 26" and one 21".

Went back on Sunday with the leftover herring and got two more in the last hour of daylight. Got them both in the first 15 minutes and then nothing. All my baits were hit and dead when I pulled in to leave, should have checked them. I used to always run from muddy water, but I might have to start fishing it.

glad that you got a couple even on a short trip. I am sure the kids enjoyed it. I am about ready to go again if this weather stays decent. Happy New Year.
You guys know 100x more than me, but the muddier, the warmer the water is. I have had some of my best winter fishing along muddy banks. Its not like redfishishing in the shallows where the clear water heats up on a sunny day. I guess its all situation dependent.
