12/3 Got2Go

Headed out early yesterday morning on the ol’ Got2Go with Capt Andy. We were met with a flat harbor and even calmer ocean:

SMOOTH ride out to the spot where I got punked by a gag on our last trip a while back. Determined to get revenge we prepared for battle. Picked away at some grocery type fishies and put some solid triggers and such in the cooler. We kept on grinding and while fishing some squid for triggers, I felt that distinct chomp, after a good battle on the spinning rod, I got my sweet revenge and got a 8 or so pound gag in the boat. 1st SC gag for me and I was stoked! High fives and hollering ensued :stuck_out_tongue:

Had some fun with bonitas on spinning outfits on the way in and had a few guest appearances from Jaws as well for some entertainment on the light tackle. Mr leatherback checked us out a few times as well and gave us a friendly hello

Had to head to the hill early as I had to work at 4pm. Luckily the ocean laid down (if even possible with how calm it was in the AM). A couple miles outside the jetties was a huge rip and more flippers than we could count working it. Seriously a wild sight to see. A GREAT day with my buddy and we got a few fish for the family and neighbors. Felt like June all over again…

Great work on the fish Derek and capt. Andy. Wish I didn’t have to work but then I wouldn’t be able to afford fishing. Tell Andy to not work so much on the weekends so I can pay him back for all of the trips he took me on offshore when I only had my kayak.
What did you catch the gag on? I know Andy had a jig or two on his boat in the past and they don’t usually eat squid on a chicken rig when they get that big.

Thanks for riding along again, D. Hopefully we can add a few to our crew for next year’s fishing. Jordan, you know I always want to go, but weekends are tough with the family nowadays, but I’ll try better next year.

Shoot I have been trying to get on board with a bunch of you this year but scheduling doesn’t work out most of the time. I am coming this weekend but the weather of course will be crappy.

Nice!

Yeah, Cliff, one of these days it’ll work out. I try to fish Monday through Thursday. Just ask Jordan,.
