went out today on cap’t Jimmys new (to him) 31 contender with a live well full of the last of this years bait. headed out to the ledge to slay the grouper! got out around 12 miles and decided the forcasted 1 to 2s with 5kts out of the E was not happening! the wind was 10 to 15 steady out of the NE and 3footers at 3sec all day. Our old crew of Jimmy, auggie dog, steve and new fishing partner Aquasport decided to fish in close rather then take the beating. we caught one good gag and the concensis was the bab’b were so thick that the grouper could not get to the bait. we caught well over 200 keeping our limit of 18/25" fish ( one was a good 4.5 lbs, almost as long as the legal gag) useing up alot of the pins and squid as fast as we could get them to the bottom. also had a time trying to anchor as the wind and current was allfull. can’t beleave the Gov will close bsb’s in jan (such a shortage)leaving only triggers the fish of choice! Won’t leave the hill with that option so I guess we will see you all in March! Been a great year fishing everybodys #s, can’t wait till March!

Well done Ed despite the weather and lack of shallow grouper. This is the first I am hearing of the BSB ban. BSB is basically my entire plan to survive until the dolphin run in the spring. Are they really going to close BSB?

Its ubelievable to hear the size of BSB you guys are catching right now, really on this size of livies that are being used…Now would be a good time to increase size limit to 14"…Sounds like in 5 years the targeted species may be BSB for the size and taste of the fish…Nothing better than not having to worry about cutting out the blood line…One thing I don’t like about cleaning snapper and other species.

We caught come really nice bsb and a first for me, was while cleaning the larger bsb i was pulling out full size tomtates about the size of my hands. Its really unbelievable how aggressive they get this year. We had then them practically swallowing jigs all day.
