New Year’s Eve in PANAMA was suppose to be family time but since I was in Panama and not going to fish for at least seven more days, I was dying to get some lines wet. After much persuasion and begging, I convince my brother against family wishes to do a half day trip to Isla Montousa.
The lines were only down for five minutes before the Blue Marlin hook up on the short line. She instantly jumped a dozen times and ran until almost spooling my Tiagra 50 wide. 45 minutes later with two long fast runs, 30 plus jumps and two long tuna like dives she was mine!
Just amazed at how this 400# fish hurled her body effortless out of the water. What I way to end 2008!

Hey Reg,
Congrats on the great catch. Sorry I missed the Jan trip. Make sure we have a spot in April and tell your brother he did an awesome job with the pool and dock.
How come there’s no video of the fish close to the boat?
Murphys’ law. The video camera ran out of battery before the release. That and it’s difficult to decide what to put in a three minute video. We did get some good pics of the fish along side the boat.
