12-4

This batch of warm weather has really got the fish chewing. I got out for a scouting trip in an area of Guerin’s creek hoping to find some nice trout. I knew that with the tide levels being at full flood that this might not allow for the best trout bite but how I could I pass up on this weather?
The fishing was very slow at first but once the water got about halfway out it turned into one of the most epic bites I have seen in a long time. Every single oyster bar I came across held reds and some decent trout too. The reds were cruising the banks with their backs out of the water everywhere I looked![:0] I caught most of my trout on a Live Target swim bait and the reds on the Z-Man 4" swimmer Z in Mulletron. I end up catching 7 trout (up to 19.5") and I lost count on reds at 20! (largest was 30.5") The weird thing was the every single red i caught had at least with one side with multiple spots!
After I finally decided to call it quits, before it got to dark, i realized that water had never started to come back in and the creek bend that I had launched from hours ago was now 7 feet up a near vertical clay bank! I ended up having to use my push pole and stake out pole to get up the ridge with the anchor trolley attached to my waist from the front handle of the PA. I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to simply pull the kayak up the embankment so I had to think fast or it was going to be hours before I got my kayak back. I ended up tying my straps together and attaching them to the hitch on the truck to pull the kayak up. Talk about a muddy mess! lol. Even though it ended up being an amazing trip and I had the water all to myself.

Congrats Justin on your epic day! That Mulletron color has been a winner for me lately, too.

Funny, my phone must have been on silent…

I have looked into putting in up around guerins, but those cliffs had me deciding otherwise!
