so many boats between the tips of the jetties you could have walked across and kept your feet dry! So, being the anti-social one in the crowd, I took off down the beach and caught a nice limit of Spaniards. Nice size fish, took a while to get my limit though. Also had a few bluefish mixed in . water was nice, even saw a few pontoons out near the little river bouey. OK that’s my report…ya’ll step up to the plate and add yours. I know there are a lot better fishermen on here than me!
Ok you asked for it I apoligize to the respectful fishermen upfront. I stayed inside in one of my normal spots got 2 nice 20" flounder and a few shorts early then low tide and actionslowed a little as soon as the tide turns Action starts to heat up and a nice school of reds show up 8 cast 8 fish 28, 28 1/2, 25, 15. 14, 14, 24, 14, then and idot see me catching fish and pulls up and parks right where I had cast the last 8 times I mean right on top of my bait. of course the fish are scattered and never show up again. I was debating putting a 2 or 3 oz sinker on and continuing to cast to where I was fishing and bouncing it off of his boat but I managed to control my temper. I just don’t understand some people if someone is anchored up and fishing give them room and don’t drive over the spots they are fishing. thats my vent sorry.
10-4 on the venting. I was catching a lot of largemouth at a favorite fairly shallow spot on Murray when this other guy sees this and decides to troll over the spot. That also ruins a good spot.
We don’t ever throw a small white perch back on Murray in the winter anymore because if it floats the striper chasers will nearly swamp our boat. If the perch floats near our boat they are actually nearly casting into it. Then we try not to lose our tempers and explain that the gulls are diving trying to pickup the perch. If that doesn’t work we head off several hundred yards and use the old cracker or popcorn trick, the gulls love that. Then the guys that were aggravating us are soon casting trying to catch stripers under the aformentioned goodies. I guess I call that defensive fishing.
a few bad apples can ruin everybody’s fun…We’ve all had that happen, but it sure is tough to keep your temper in check sometimes.
Yea its why I normally try to fing places up in the creeks to fish I don’t even go to the jetties anymore because of it. but in the fall when everyone comes inside for the trout it happens a lot. Most of the time it doesn’t bother me but this guy got under my skin.
Well, I may have actually bettered you for once this year, harryt2t!!! I got there at daybreak to work topwater for some trout. Well, I’m glad I did because I had 6 strikes and landed 4 before it shut off. Biggest was 21.5 and smallest was 16.5. Then I ran to the jetties, got bait and started to drift. I don’t give a crap about catching bull drum, but there were a lot of people who did. I caught 3 flatties, but only 1 keeper at 19.5. I had some dude anchor right in our path where we all were drifting. Then, I had a dude troll by at light speed and get not one, but both of my lines tangled, so I left the rocks and ran back inside on the incoming just in time to catch some reds in the grass. At dead low at the jetties, I dropped a live shrimp on the bottom and landed 3 weakfish. The biggest was only about 16", though. I got to one of my favorite spots and it was on. I poled in and the reds were busting bait all over. Ended up with 11 out of the grass in about 30 minutes and all were slot fish, but I release them!!! It was a very nice day on the water. I kept the smallest trout, a flounder and one weakfish, so the family ate like kings last night. Harry, was that you achored at the dock at the big curve when I came back in yesterday? It was a blue boat, but I couldn’t see if it was a Nautistar or not.
No I stayed out til about noon or so I was in the crossroad area the last hour or so but didn’t fish any docks. but after the guy busted up the school I was fishing my head just wasn’t in it so I decided to come back in and have a beer to relax LOL. I’m hoping to be out there friday afternoon and sat again this weekend
It always sucks when someone messes up fishing. I used to be able to fish during the week a lot when the traffic was a lot less, but with work and kids, the weekend is the only time I can go now. I guess that’s the price I pay for wanting to better the family!!! Glad you got on a few. I am going to try to get out this weekend. I can’t go Friday because I have to be at a political dinner for Rep. Stephen Goldfinch, our very own yellabird from here on charlestonfishing.com. But, Saturday is a different story. If the wife doesn’t have me tied up with honey do’s, Jonah, my 6 year old, and I will be there in full effect!!! Hope to see you out, man!
