I have a 1987 merc blackmax that spun a prop. I got the new prop and it was missing bad. Checked compression and I had zero compression on two cylinders. My question is there a best case scenario that would make it worth paying to have it looked at. I mostly work on my boat by myself, but tearing down the engine is a bit beyond me.

I would if you still fished. I should have known better than to name it after shakey, all down hill from there.
go see Thomas Tyler in Scranton, it won’t be a budget job, but it will be right, still probably chepaer than a dealership, and a lot cheaper than a new motor
