Yep, they said they are going to submit the video to the guiness book and IFGA. Sounds legit…bet those boys were sore the next morning!

Definatly not legit. Had just left there after fishing the Bisbee’s. They may have hooked that many or close to it, but they did not catch many of them. The guys I talked to out there said these guys were backing up to a school of fish and pitching baits, and as soon as they could come tight they would thumb it and break them off. So that means they did not “catch” those fish. Don’t think it will quite hold up. A couple minor IGFA rules infractions. But I am sure that it was amazing to even see that many fish in a day. I did hear some reports of guys actually catching from 20-50 a day and that is pretty impressive for stripy’s. Especially if they were on 30 lb like those guys were using.
??
I don’t believe it, but here are some pretty cool shots.

I don’t normally jump in on these, but think about it, 179 releases would have equated to a release every 4 minutes for 12 hours straight. I do not believe it is even remotely possible with only 4 anglers.

A lot of these fish were released in less than 10 seconds.
They were dropping baits off the stern and hooking fish within 5 feet of the boat.
Tzer seems to know what’s going on.
A lot of the fish were hooked with the wind-on already on the spool or the leader already in the mate’s hand.
Personally, I think it’s a stupid record, but it is important to know that these fish were not caught trolling with baits 50-200ft behind the boat.
Look how far back a couple of those fish are. Also, notice how many anglers are fighting at one time. I only see one.

ABSOLUTELY LEGIT!!! David Brackmann is one of my best angling buddies and one of the most honest, meticulous anglers in North America. I have known him and fished with him since 1985. He has been:
He called me the day after they released 179. They were North of the Bisbee tournment boundary. The fish were released from sunrise to sunset - until they completely ran out of bait.
Stripeys fight nothing like blue marlin. They typically do not move around great swaths of the ocean after being hook and are therefore quite easy to 1. release and 2. release in multiple numbers. Dave said there were literally miles of baitballs all over the ocean with marlin on each ball. This was the day of a lifetime and may never be duplicated again.
If you have any questions about the authenticity of the story, please call me at 452-2303 or David Brackmann directly at 626-854-3700. He’s in the commercial real estate business in Southern California when he’s not wetting a line.

Nobody is attacking if he is a good guy or if he has a good fishing resume, it is just physically impossible to catch that many fish in that amount of time. They even had to run and get bait. They have not shown ONE picture that had 4 of them hooked up.
It had to be an incredible day none the less.

how in the hell are they gonna have a pic with all 4 hooked up at one time if there was only the 4 of them on the boat…use your head for something other than a hat rack…there are some idiots in this world, with the greater majority located on this site!
WGF about all this mess…either they did or they didnt catch 179, does anyone know for 100% FACT…NO, was anyone there, did anyone see it first hand that is arguing the case, NO…unless you were there STFU!!!
The new Marlin Magazine published the same story, and like marlinman they verify it. And for aceinthehole, there were others aboard than the anglers and they do have video proof of the catches. Someone had to drive the boat, bet that would be hell to land a marlin from the bridge of a 45 Rampage!

I swear - this is exactly why I no longer look at these post but once every two months. Somebody could post a statement that 2+2=4 and there would be 8 pages of BS on why the guys is a dumbass and doesn’t know a thing.
All I know is that my buddy was on the boat, was the #1 angler of 4 world class anglers on the boat, is as honest as the day is long and they released 179 stripe marlin in 1 day. I’m jealous, wish to the marlin Gods I had been there and give them FULL CREDIT for an incredible day of a lifetime!
Have a great weekend - this is the end of my post on this subject.
Get ready…
Same boat mostly the same crew… 190 Stripes in one day.
Story will break soon.
