1992 40 hp Evinrude Engine Question

I have a 1992 40 hp evinrude. It idles fine and runs good up to 2200 rpm. Above 2200 rpm it skips and jumps. Any thoughts?

Most likely dirty carbs or ignition coils/power pack. Just a guess.

SLOW or S.A.F.E. mode i think is what Chris is talking about. He knows more than I do. Give us more details, does it ever free up from the skips and jumps and accelerates past 2200rpm?
