starter not lifting to engage flywheel(?)unless i jiggle. once i lift hood and tap starter it kicks up and starts. had motor 8 yrs and never was a problem until last year. oiled and did fine but resurfaced sat. i understand some oil is needed but was cautioned not to use wd40. what is recommended. does this sound like starter may be going bad or just needing oil.
Make sure all your connections are snug and corrosion-free.
To make sure it isn’t something in between battery and starter motor, use jumper cables to bring power straight from batter to starter.
Battery may have low voltage and/or Starter may be on its way out
