Motor is running on 1 cylinder, have fir and fuel to all cylinders please someone point in right direction, cannot find anyone who works on theses old Johnson’s thanks
First, where are you located? In Charleston, there are several good shops that will do the work. I’ve had good luck over the years with Charleston Marine, Hanckels, and Seels. All good shops. There are others that are also good. I’ve just never had occasion to use them.
Second, Chris V will chime in shortly and tell you to check compression.
Then, if it is ‘running’ on one cylinder how are you determining that you have fire on the other three? Are you using a spark tester? (
) If not, they are very inexpensive. Get one and test the other cylinders. I am a little suspicious of the claim that it runs on one cylinder. Mine runs ragged on three and won’t run on two. Are you sure only one cylinder is working?
These old smokers are quite simple.
To run, they need compression, fuel+air, and spark and a little timing to keep things coordinated.
Check compression.
If good, check fire?
If good, check fuel+air.
