Motor went up an won’t come
down. Can hear down motor running but
motor will not move.
Idea of where to star
looking or just take it
on to shop.
Thanks

If you can hear the motor running then nearly everything is working.
The t/t system is pretty straight forward. The motor runs in both directions. One direction is up and the other is down. The rocker switch feeds power to a pair of larger solenoid switches, one feeds the motor in the up direction, the other simply reverses the polarity and gives the down direction.
So, if you hear the motor running, then the rocker switch under your finger works. The larger solenoid switch on the motor under the cowling works and it is sending power to the t/t motor which is spinning.
That leave just the hydraulics.
So, check the hydraulic fluid. It may just need more fluid. Mine leaked for years. When they get low, but, still work, you can hear the bubbles in the hydraulics sounding like little crackling noises. If low, add fluid and simply run the cylinders up and down a few times until the little crackling noises go away. If she leaks slowly, just pay attention to when those little crackling noises come back and top her off. I did this to mine for 5 years or so.
If she is not low on fluid or if adding fluid does not help, then you have lost a seal in the guts of the t/t unit.
The t/t units are not incredibly complicated. Mine eventually stopped working and I ended up having to rebuild. The hardest part was getting it off of the motor. You’ll need a wrench to remove the cap nuts on the tops of the cylinders. After that, disassembly and cleaning is pretty easy. Just watch how it comes apart and catch the little springs and balls that make up the ball check valves. If you can still buy a seal kit, replace all seals and re-assemble. The only tricky part is making sure you do not pinch a seal or o-ring when re-assembling.
Everything must be meticulously clean when re-assembling. If you get a little particulate matter in there, it will get stuck in one of the ball/check valves and it will cause exactly the symptom you’re having now.
