I have a 1998 90 Evinrude that ran fine until end of last year. I can start it right up in the driveway and it will run on muffs. When I go to launch it the motor stalls under load. If I slam the throttle I can usually get it going and then it runs fine, until I stop and need to get going again. I am thinking air leak in fuel line or maybe carbs. Also wondering if It could be bad gas. Or I could be way off. Any ideas? I am not sure where to start. Might end up biting the bullet and just take it to the shop.
I would say carbs.
Excuses? I’ve heard them all!
I run a 1995 88spl, which basically a 90 with a different sticker. I bet on dirty jets in your carbs. Tear em down and clean 'em.

yep… dirty carbs
And, change your filter element. If you don’t have one, install one.

Appreciate it. I will tear the carbs apart this week and hopefully get a chance to try her out this weekend.
