Who is the best on these motors in the Charleston area or even Columbia? I know the history of these motors, but was almost given a pair of 1998 Johnson Ocean Runner Ficht 150s counter rotating. They look great. The counter engine runs like new and never has given a second of problem. The other has a bad cylinder. I have a powerhead and am looking for someone to swap it over and hook the laptop to it and set it up. Chris V, do you do this and barring any unknowns what kinda money would I be looking at. The powerhead I have is rebuilt with the new injectors in it, the pinned heads and improved pistons, etc.
If these are Johnson Ocean Runners then they are not Fict’s. They are carbed motors with optical ignition.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day. FISH 24/7---- 25 Grady w/ a couple of Gas Guzzling 175 Johnsons “O-SEA-D” the old “Havanadaydream”
These are 1998 Johnson Ocean Runners and are Fichts. The decals on the cowl say what i just typed and there are no carbs on these motors and there are 6 injectors beside 6 spark plugs that say FICHT on them. Thanks though
Don’t want to argue but I was under the impression that Fict was an Evinrude thing!

The first couple of years OMC would brand the Ficht as either a Johnson or Evinrude, same for the Suzuki four strokes OMC marketed. Then a marketing decision was made to push Evinrude as the premium engine and Johnson as the old reliable. I’ve got a '97 150hp Johnson Ficht in my garage.
In the late 90’s you could get it in either Johnson or Evinrude. I wouldn’t have touched these motors with a 10ft pole, but I literally got them for almost nothing with controls, cables, harness and SS props. They are extremely clean. The counter rotation motor runs awesome and has never given a minutes trouble. I have done a ton of online research and talked to a dozen mechanics and basically you either got a “good one” or a lemon. The ones that had the updates gave far less problems. I want to turn the blown one into a “good one” or buy a good running standard rotation to complete the pair. These things are fast and sip fuel when you get them right. Was thinking of changing the boat name to “Fichted Up”

LMAO LMAO LMAO!!!!! Hilarious!! Good Luck with your project, I'll do a little research up here, and see if I can help you out with a motor, or powerhead. Seeya, Scott
Thanks for the clarification Marlowe. I had a 20’ keywest with an 2001 150 Evinrude Fict and loved the rig. No problems in 2 years of ownership and 400 hours.

ECU - Just looked for someone to work on my '99 200 Evinrude Ficht. Was consistently told Seel’s or Cape Romain. ChrisV told me Cape Romain; this is where they send anyone with an ETEC or a Ficht. Was able to solve the problem myself before my spot on the waitlist came up so I don’t know what the service is like at either.
ChrisV - My apologies if I got the above wrong. When I called your shop, the guy I talked to told me this was you policy.
