1999 Yamaha dies on me....Bad gas?

i just had the carbs rebuilt a couple of weeks ago, the other day I’m riding along and the engine just kind of dies on me. Take a while to crank back up, i have to trhottle up to get the engine running. It did it again today. it won’t cut all the way off but it comes close…then it will just kick right back up???
Bad gas? I only had about 1 gallon left in the tank so i got new with treatment in it?
thanks

i’ve been having a lot of fuel related issues lately exactly like yours and i treat my gas. i’ve had to clean out the vapor seperator tank 3 times in 6 months. Yamaha said that when ethonal is made it’s not regulated and has impurities in it, but is in liquid form which gets through your filters. Then when your engine gets hot and your fuel gets hot, the impurities come out of the gas and clog up the screens and filters in the fuel pump or vst (whatever motor you have). It’s been pissing me off. i’m running the boat every day to get this gas out and refill from a different station. Good luck!

thanks, i am going to try and find ethanol free from now on

Just some light hearted humor!!! Laugh a little!!:sunglasses::smiley: And, I’m not even going there on the fuel problems. Seeya, Scott

Check the plugs for metal, sounds like a bad cylinder. If not bad gas.

suzuki is doing the same… .its the ■■■■ gas. Suckers we are for letting them put that in out gas and messing up all these motors.

I had a very similar experience awhile ago with the engine doing the same thing a few trips after a rebuild. In the gas tank the gas was separated and dirty and the carbs had to be cleaned again. Ask who ever rebuilt it if they checked the tank for contaminents. Then check it yourself and check the fuel filter again. They cleaned mine the second time no charge. I ran the fuel to almost nothing but it was dirty and the carbs sucked it up again. Good Luck

Are you reading this B.S. Hoppy!
