I have been on the board for years reading the posts learning tons. Have gone out to Edisto and 60 before but never bottom fished. Where would ya’ll recommend for a first Bottom Trip? The 60 seems like a boat show every time I pass it so assume its hit hard.
All the AR’s are hit pretty hard. Get a maps unique chart and look for live bottom in 90 feet or so to start with. Will take some time exploring and becoming comfortable with your bottom reader to find fish but when you do it’s usually MUCH better than the DNR reefs
I’ve always wanted to go out during late June/ early July and pull ballyhoo and just look for stuff while we troll through various depths but never pulled the trigger lol

Suggest you try sending bait down even when the the relief and/or fish may not look so dramatic. In other words good grouper live bottom sometimes hardly shows up on graph. And sometimes you may see a Christmas tree, which is all small stuff. But then it’s worth it to find good fishing places. Just cruise around the general areas of live bottom b/c it’s not all on the maps. And turn your gain and zoom up.
Ona is dead on. I’ve gone to some spots in the general area of other live bottom areas. Don’t really see much on the sonar but mark some small stuff. Drop down and surprise yourself. The artificial reefs can be better in the winter when there is less traffic but better to go to the deeper ones like 80 plus feet deep.
