It tells me the video is private and has to have owner permission.

Worked for me Cracker! What was the big fishee, that came in frame higher up off the bottom? You panned to it and then it went away. Lots of life down there. Did you drop any chum down? Lets get a picture of you’re homemade rig posted?
Yeah Larry…got alot to learn about this stuff:smiley:.
No worries, wont ever hear any of that rap music on mine:smiley:.

Had to edit…most of the fish are Red Snapper with some nice grouper. I guess they are not endangered…I have been doing a little reading and I understand there is a filter thet can be added tothe gopro that will help show the colors down deep.
No chum, just watching HD with my buddies new Chirp sonar!
Maybe someone else like 23sail can help with advice on the filter tho.

Very Nice! Could use some tunes though…maybe some Lil Wayne or Boosie Bad Azz…
As far as filters- My buddy Racko owns a company called Blur Fix. They make some sick lenses for GoPro’s take a look at what you may want and I’ll talk to him about it.
As you know, I am about to do the same thing for some personal and science fair information. I think I have settled on a concrete slab with a few eye bolts as well as a bar to mount the GoPro and a vertical stem for lines to run off of.
I want it flat on the bottom filming up towards the light a bit. Any tips or things you have changed on your rig since you shot this?
Next time please send one down with a chumbag full of squid!
Great video, I got a kick out of the trigger that looked like he loved being on camera!

As far as filter, not sure I care that much as we know what the fish are. You have my attention on this though.
Concrete, forget it, as I can weight your rig down with lead in any shape you want.
I am a rookie but if you tilt camera up you will miss alot IMO.
I can build most of what you want, draw something up and I will meet you if that works?

Make a Tripod that lands like a lunar module feet first. Pick it up and let it skip around a bit. NICE WORK! Interesting that these fish are in an area of sandy bottom.

I’m sure you’d do an awesome job but that wouldn’t teach my 14 Y.O. to get off his arse and do something. We drew some plans last night and he is building it after school. He can’t afford to lose any more brain cells to melting lead…
cool video man. I think ill have to make one of these rigs for my gopro!
quote:Probably just 20 feet from the structure. That dark haze in the back ground could be a ledge. Also, at exactly 10 seconds through 12 seconds, you can see a hard line close to the sand that looks like hard structure. You can see this again around 1:29 in the video that has 2 larger fish hovering by it at that point.

quote:I could be wrong, but theoretically, I think you need to add a light source at depth to get the colors. I think the reason colors are "filtered" out is because the sunlight get's filtered out ("selective absorption"): ROYGBIV. From what I can tell in 100' from diving, only the Red and Orange light get's filtered out at that point. I see charts that say yellow light should not exist at 100', but you can definitely see a bit of yellow down there.

Did you use the standard waterproof clear plastic gopro case for that? I’ve thought about doing that same thing, but wasn’t sure if the pressure would crack the case?

You got it right Skinnee.
BTW, we are gonna add a 2nd camera on the back that will give a near 360 degree view!
