Hello CF.com,
I recently moved back to Charleston after eight years of freshwater fly fishing in NC and UT. As a kid I mainly surf and offshore fished in the lowcountry. I began dabbling in the long stick as a kid as well, but mainly for bream and bass in ponds. When I realized I would be moving back home I started researching inshore fly opportunities. It was quickly apparent that I should target reds in the grass. I started reading this site while I was still in Utah over the summer. I gleaned lots of helpful information here, this is a great site! I got after them hard apon moving here in September. A few weeks ago I stuck this nice red with my 8 wt. First fish I’ve ever had go into the backing and the largest fish I’ve landed with my fly gear. Thanks for the info. Needless to say, I am now hooked on inshore fishing and currently trying to figure out other styles of inshore besides the grass.

Thanks, I feel that I need to get a pole and platform for my boat to get up in the skinny water to look for those schools this winter. Maybe even a different water craft altogether (kayak? jon boat?). My Key West draws more water than I previously realized.
