Ilander series with ballyhoo? What size would be best? Where would be the best place to purchase? Just would like to catch dolphin/ wahoo on a calm day this summer. THANKS! 23.5 seahunt
C&H lil’ stubby or sea witch lures with small and medium ballyhoo will be most cost effective. Use a 7/0-9/0 j hook with a nose cone bait spring, they are easiest to rig. you can find plenty of videos on youtube how to do so. I prefer 100lb mono for dolphin. As far as where to purchase, I like to support local businesses like Hadrells or Atlantic game and tackle. Even though WalMart and West marine typically carry the basics you’re looking for. Also, the guys at Atlantic and Hadrells have been more than helpful to me and will be able to walk you through just about any questions you may have with rigging/baits/etc.
Hope this helps and good luck this summer. Welcome to the site.

Contact Sellsfish. He sells some great sea witches that are already rigged for Phin and wire ones ready for Hoo. Plus he will teach you how to rig them and fish them. Can beat the price either.

What Cobia said
Those Ilander lures are super expensive, at least for a casual fisherman like me, and for us they have never really outperformed the relatively inexpensive C and H Little Stubbys and Aliens and the Sea Witches rigged with Med. ballyhoo for dolphin that we mostly use. Its not a bad idea to have a cedar plug or two to put in the spread. You can run it way back and not have to worry about it washing out.
