Over the years, I have learned to change plans on the fly. We left early, with intentions of running to southwest bank, for a day of triggers and scamps. The sky was as dark as I have ever seen it, and Ft Sumpter range looked like a video game on the ride out. The boys got a good nap on the way out. At about 5:30, the wind was still blowing, so instead of running the full 50 miles, I settled on a few areas around the red banks. We caught plenty of the usual suspects, B-liners, triggers, Huge (formerly endangered (thank you SAFMC)can only keep 3)Charleston / silver snapper, Red porgies. The Grouper bit at daybreak, and got a decent Gag, and a couple of 25" scamps on frozen cigar minners. We also caught 5 short (by 1/8th to 1/4") chickens. I kept looking for that 2’ @ 10 seconds, and never saw it, had one of the crew chumming, so pushed into a blackfish hole, and in between monster AJ’s (eating BSB’s) with got a limit of greenheads. Turned tail and ran in at about 11:00, slow going until we got near capers, then was able to kick it up a notch. My back is killing me today…I’m getting to old for rough water / small boat / and cold weather. I am still waiting to get back out to SWB.

Nice catch. Several people told me the weather wasn’t exactly great. Good day though. Let me know when you wanna get back out to SWB. I need to get out there.
Thanks for the report Sells. Talked to some guys that went out up here and they got there but handed to them late. The guys up here also said that the current was ridiculous.
