Went out to the Folly river today to check on a couple spots… bite was good! Seemed like I couldn’t drop an oyster down without it being taken… I realized how fun it is to switch baits from fidds to oysters… the bite much more subtle, and most times you lose the oysters as the sheepshead just rip them off the hook. #128517; I was able to land one fish in about an hour or so of fishing!
Nice sheep! Looking forward to getting out there!

Good job there sheepslayer
I have a easier time catching them with oysters/mussels/clams than fiddlers. What size hook are you using. A short shank number 2 and lite leader is what I use and I gently hook the oyster a few times in the meaty section. Good to see the sheep’s are heading back in. I was thinking/ feeling like for a while they all ran from the cold to the nearshore because of the lack of productivity I was having in some go to spots.
Sheeps aren’t responsible for taking your bait in the situation you described
Cheesecloth, dental floss. Tie up your oyster pieces into a ball the size of a marble. Get out there and get on two or three before even rebaiting.
No matter how many variables I have control over, I never expect a bite. I only hope.
I am using a #4 from wal mart… I believe it’s a short shank also. Believe there were some small Black Sea bass down there also… pulled at least one up on the oyster… this is one of my top producing inshore spots!
