2/22 -Caught a few

Hit the water hard today from dawn to dusk for what will probably my only trip for the week. Water completly different today from all the rain and really dirty in the Dawhoo areas. Surprised me on how it could be so different from last trip. Could not see 2 inches under the water. Did not catch my first fish until 1:30. Ended up with 6 with 4 over slot. Slow day for fishing all day. Got in a pocket full of reds at dead low and they were really active eating what looked like grass shrimp and finger mullet but they were not interested in anything I threw. Threw everything in the box at them including cut bait. Did manage 2 that I think I about hit on top of the head with using a glass minnow on a jig head and one on a zman green grub with yellow tail. Biggest red 29" and 11 lbs. Picked up a few nice ones from a school I located on the way out with the same green grub and a watermelon gulp crazy legs jerk bait.

If that’s all I have to worry about…there’s nothing to worry about.

Last year (spring) in that same area, I ran across small “wolf packs” of reds GORGING on grass shrimp at low tide on the mud. They would just roll in the same place over and over, but I could not get a bite on anything. You could put the bait right in front of em multiple times but no reaction-positive or negative til you bumped em. I sized way down on everything and got naught, but it was fun to watch though.

It’s cool at first to see them like that, but i get frustrated pretty quick and end up spooking them!
