Dave and I had been talking about trying for swords for a couple of weeks. The weather Fri / Sat looked great so we decided to make a bottom / sword trip. Fished the ledge and boated plenty of scamps and triggers, even caught one of these endangered fish.
Headed to the “Flemish Cap at dusk and started drifting baits in a monster 5.1 knot current. On the 2nd pass, we had our first knockdown on a squid, but did not hook up. The 3rd run produced the first keeper of the night with my son Mike getting his first broadbill. Fish was 52” to fork and 55 lbs gutted.

On our third pass it was Justin’s turn for his first Sword and he caught the twin to Mikes fish! 53" and 23 kg with out head and guts

Great gaff work by Malcolm! gutted, iced and bagged and boxed! We headed to the hill at daybreak. Thanks for a great trip Dave, my son will NEVER forget his first Sword!

congrats mr sellsfish. We did an overnight trip 2 weeks ago but we weren’t in the right current and had everything looking great all night but not one bite.
