2 guides, all day, $10 (Charity results)

It could be true!

Friday, Nov. 16th we will have our 2nd annual SSWA Oyster Roast and fund raiser for Dorchester Children’s Center at Miler Country Club in Summerville. Last year we raised $1310 to provide Christmas for over 100 abused kids. This year I want to do better!

We will have our oyster roast, which is $20 for non-members. We will also have fish stew, hot dogs, chili and more!

We will have an auction for 1/2 guide trips thanks to donations by Mike Waller, David Lane, Amy Little and Doug Connelley. We will also sell tickets to win A BUNCH OF PRIZES! $1 each or 15 for $10.

But this year we will have a “card draw”, too, for a FULL DAY GUIDE TRIP with professional angler Ralph Phillips and another professional (you have to show up to find out who:wink:). We will have a deck of cards and you can buy one for $10. We will cut it in half, you keep half and half goes into the drawing. Then we will draw the halves down :imp:(slowly):imp:. aaaaarrrgh! Last card left is the winner!

You can spend a whole day learning how to fish from the BEST for $10!

If you are interested in SSWA and the party, just PM my Dad (Vinman) or reply here.

I can’t wait! A couple of links are below from last year. This year we can help more kids!

But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

A few folks PM’d and sent monies in support of this charity event. I won’t name you by name because you seem like the types that don’t cotton to that, but THANK YOU! Your generosity has supplied Christmas for several kids, and we haven’t even begun yet! Sincerest thanks.

The results are in! We had a FANTASTIC party with a surprising number of non-member guests, most of which came for the joy of the party and also to take part in the charity drawings and auctions to support Dorchester Children’s Center.

The bar was raised and Megan leapt right over it! We raised $2,207, nearly $1000 more than last year!! And the timing couldn’t be better, as DCC already has 150 children signed up for the Christmas program and it doesn’t really fully kick in until December. So they are needing Santa monies this year more than any other.

Thanks to EVERYONE involved - board members, DCC volunteers, Miler CC, prize donors, guides, Skip the auctioneer, and especially those who brought their check books to do what they could to help these less fortunate children. There will be many smiles on their beautiful faces come Christmas morning thanks to your kindness.

Happy Holidays!

Thanks for the post Vince. Many people put a lot of work in to this event, but none more than Vince, Megan and family. It was a fantastic party that will have people talking and in time will grow along with our membership. Kay and 4 volunteers from DCC came to help with the logistics which gave the board members the chance to relax and enjoy themselves which was wonderful. Dorchester Childrens Center is a very worthy cause and we are proud to support them.

When Ethan received his Youth Angler of the Year award, we asked him if he’d like to say a few words. His words: “Thanks DAD”
