2 kayakers need some help

Corpsman85 and I go out to the ville just about every sunday except for the past few weeks because of the holidays. we usually get there at 730am and fish the incoming and outgoing tides. we fish all around and still no bites, we usually use cut mullet under a cork. this is our first year fishing charleston and redfish. any help? thanks alot.

glad to see Im not the only one that happens to there!

leave your fishin’ poles at home one time.

track em’ down at low tide

see what they do as the tide comes in.

you’ll be ready for them the next time you fish.

man thats going to be hard to leave the poles at home but I asked for help so i’ll do it! Thanks again…

I wouldn’t use dead/cut bait under a cork. PM these guys and ask to tag along, but not when its 43deg and wind is blowing:)

You can use dead mullet but I always make sure if it’s under a cork it touches bottom… try a Carolina rig on the bottom and you’ll do better… just bring a bunch of extra leaders and stuff because you WILL lose gear on the oyster bars… Was gonna try it this past wekend but the wind kickin like iwas was would have meant 2footers whitecapping and thats just no fun when its this cold… Falling tide up against the grass and you’ll do OK if they are biting…

My last 3 trips to the ville have pretty much sucked. Water is COLD, wind was blowing, no biat to be seen. I know the’yre still cruising around because I shadowed a nice shool last week as the tide came in. Threw everything but the kitchen sink without a look.

I did better on the Wando last week. Same tactics, but the water was a little warmer. Shrimp were active, plenty of mud minnows moving around and a couple of nice fat reds to show for the effort.

yeah the Ville is gonna suck for a while til the water warms up a little… the trout will be hauling fin for deeper warmer water and the reds won;t be far behind… Low tide on a warm sunny day tey will move up and sun on the mud flats but it is a lot colder then before thie winter… The wando has a better flow I think plus a much deeper channel they can “escape” to when the surface water gets too cold… form what I have read 45 degrees f will kill trout and most of the water has been below 50F lately…
