Well I know I havent given any reports in a while, but I figured I’d let you know about our swording recently. We went a week ago with an allstar crew and learned a new trick or two with all our heads put togather. We went 5 for 5 and brought 2 home that were 90-110lbs. Plus had a shot at a blue and caught some dolphin in the hour we trolled. The other boats out did have any luck, so like the saying goes rather be lucky than good.
As for last night we gave it another shot decpite poor reports from those the night before with goose eggs. About 45 minutes into it I saw a light on the top and ran to the 300 ft rod and started crankin. I caught my first sword around 60-70lbs (which we released). I always hand the rod off but this time I was greedy after handing off so many. We thought it was on for the night, but that was it other than the regular sharks. We did have a reel nice sword swim through the light right after the first release as well as a pup later in the night. By the way almost all of out bites have come from 2 areas about a mile long. You dont always have to try 226.
Good luck we will give it another try in a week.
tight lines,
Michael Mattson
