2 stroke oil?

Always run yamalube in my sx 200 but the economy is hurtin my pocket; any recommendations for a good cheaper substitute and where to buy? Or should I bite the bullet and pony up for the yamaha oil?

Hanckle west ashley sells yamalube in 1 gallon milk jugs for 17 or 18 dollars. Ask for John. I used to by 8 to 10 gallons at a time from him.

ever seen a motor “worn out” from usin cheap oil? chances r no. some do burn a little cleaner than others and some smoke worse than others but fact is they will all lube ur engine. i run havoline cuz it’s the cheapest thing in my small town and the pints make it easy for me to premix 6 gallons at a time(same price per oz as quarts) but whatever u use will protect ur engine fine. in the old days they used 30wt. spend ur thoughts elswhere. my opinion for what it’s worth. been runnin no particular brand in an old motor for many years with no premature wear in sight. keepin carbs clean is much more important to me and protectin against corrosion.

I usually run Pennzoil marine but in a pinch had to use the Wally World, Super Tech brand. It smoked really bad and left residue around the prop hub that Pennzoil never did. I drained my oil tank and replaced it with Pennzoil. I am sure it would have lubed fine but ■■■■, looked like I was fogging for mosquitoes.

I run penzoil blend most of the time from wally on my ox66.

I would agree that better quality (i.e. reputable name brand) oils will serve you just fine with your model of outboard. As for the HPDI, Optimax, or Etec you will be best served by running the respectivey recommended factory oil.

Ditto what hairball said and I’ve always heard NOT to mix different brands of oil. Find 1 that meets the requirements and stick with it. My boat has been run on Havoline since 93’. Once again my .02 worth

After I bought ny new 15 yamaha 2 stroke I bought a yamalube from charleston boat center( I think that’s the name) right under 526 at rivers. They have moved but I don’t know where. Justed asked the best price they could do me and ended up paying 3.67 a quart! I wish I would have gotten more than a six pack but at 100:1 it should last quite a while. Could have been a mistake on their part but worth a try.

Walmart on Dorchester Rd used to have the Pennzoil in a 4 gall container, but no more …Grrr.
Anyone else know where you can get that? I hate having to go all the time to pick up more oil
