I’ve got a Johnson 250hp Ocean Pro. The oil injection was disabled when I got the boat and motor. The thing has given me problems with slow idle ( wants to cut off ) since I’ve had it. Anywhere below 8 mph it wants to cut off unless you pump the bulb then it’ll run for a while and repeat the process. From about 8 mph to WOT it runs strong - no problems.
I’ve checked all lines for air leaks a dozen times - I’ve plugged all known oil injection ports on the fuel pump that aren’t being used - I’ve used a remote fuel tank to isolate the problem to the motor side and not the boat…still it wants to cut off at low idle or trolling speeds. I think it’s just a bad fuel pump.
I don’t want to replace the fuel pump with another VRO pump. Is there a plain 12v fuel pump that I can replace the VRO with…? No need for an oil injection pump if I’m not using the system.
Has anyone had this problem and put a plain jane aftermarket fuel pump on…? Help appreciated and needed…thanks.
