2000 yamaha 200 hpdi intermittent power loss

Can anyone help me out with insight into why my engine is loosing power intermittently only on startup? Runs perfectly most of the time ,but on ocassion it seems like it is running on 3 cylinders when put in drive. If I shut down and simply start up it, it usually runs great. There are no alarms just deminished power. I once had to limp back to the dock. I checked the neutral switch, which checked out fine. The problem comes and goes, but always after a startup and It never occurs once the engine is already running correctly. If I leave it running I can go repeatedly from neutral to drive and never experience the problem.

sounds like the neutral switch may be sticking
that engine only runs on 4 cylinders in neutral

Sorry about the repeated quotes, new to the forum.I checked the neutral switch and it doesn’t stick. Also noted that it is in an open state when in gear, so when it happened on the next occasion I unplugged it and that should have cleared the problem although it didn’t .

So with some further research, the engine needs to see the closed-circuit upon startup otherwise it will not recognize the open circuit when put in gear. So my last test was invalid. Guess it’s time to just change the switch.
