2001 Johnson 90 hp ocean pro

My motor cranks up and runs great taking it off the trailer and moving between the first couple fishing spots. After it has warmed up though, I will crank it up to move to a new spot and it tends to stall out when giving it gas. It will crank up fine, even idle forward fine, but stall out when trying to give it gas and get on plane. This doesn’t happen every time I take it out, maybe every other time.

The only way to get moving when this is happening is to increase the high RPM idle, then basically punch it in gear. I know this is bad for the motor and have only done it a couple times. I have a service scheduled for it this week, but was wondering what folks on here may think the issue is. Hoping its not too serious.

Probably your power pack since it is a common failure on these motors but could be a coil. Had the same motor and similiar symptoms and it was the power pack for me. Regardless, its most likely electrical since it sounds like it is heat dependent. Part is a little price but is pretty easy to change out on your own.
