Can anyone give me any pros and cons of these motors I am looking at a boat with twins but , am a little hesitate about them.

that motor single handedly bankrupted OMC.
one of the worst motors ever put into production.
I know, you or a friend had one that ran better than any Yamaha ever thought about. well consider yourself lucky. most of them blew up at least once in the first year.
do yourself a favor and keep looking. there isn’t even an evinrude dealer in Charleston anymore.
if it made it this long, its probably okay, but very few people will evn work on them anymore. they are like the big block Yamaha HPDI, when they are running right, they are awesome, light weight, fuel efficient, and plenty of torque, but it hard and expensive to keep them running right. its just not worth it in my opinion, and you asked for opinions.

By 2004 Bombardier had a lot of kinks(not all) worked out of those engine and if its still running, its probably a decent engine. Believe or not, they are probably the most fuel efficient outboard ever made.They burned less fuel than the newer E-Tecs. But also understand, there are very few places that will work on those, they have several known issues, and have a lot of very expensive parts that are no longer available. I you have an issue with one engine, you will probably not find another engine for re power, so you’re stuck with re powering both engines. And bottom line is its a 15 year old salt water motor, regardless of brand, its on its last legs. If you are pricing the boat, o at it with the expectations of re powering in the very near future. Cape Romain Marine is the only shop that will work on them
