From someone who builds boats that is a strong statement. I’m curious why such a fan? Not trying to derail just curious. I dig these boats too?

Sorry, I missed this question…

The Panga, pronounced ponga, design has been around for hundreds of years. The origin is Asia somewhere I think. They were first used with sail and oar power, then adapted to outboard motors later. They are a light, seaworthy and easily propelled hull that can carry a large load. The design was first brought to the Americas by Orientals during the building of the Panama Canal and migrated all over the Caribbean basin in a short time.

The FAO spread the design throughout the 3rd world Caribbean countries, at the beginning of the last century, as an inexpensive, seaworthy and capable boat that could be built quick, cheap and with local materials on hand, yet seaworthy enough to subsistence fish or haul cargo. The pangas kept many people from starving. 100 years later they are still being used throughout Central America and the Caribbean as commercial fishing boats, hauling cargo, ferry boats, charter boats, tourist boats, everything…Like the Jeep of boat design. Any boat design that is still in serious use after 100 years is worthy of consideration. Materials change, design whims change, Peoples need of flash change, but the sea never changes. What worked 100 years ago still works today.

They have a narrow beam for their length which makes them easily propelled with relatively low HP. The narrow beam makes initial stability seem a little tippy, but load them up and they are solid as a rock. I’ve seen them as small as 12’ long and up to

Who welded the swim platform? Very nice job

Came with boat

Going to a broker this weekend. Price will not be as low as it is now.

Sold.

Cool boat, always liked the versatility Pangas could provide. Out of curiosity, how many people is that boat rated for and how many can comfortably fish from it

BGC

I don’t remember what the sticker says. I would say it fishes 3 folks perfectly and is fine with 4…depending on the type of fishing you are doing.

Six folks is good for cruisin, etc.
