Opinions? Looking to up-size from my Scout 162 and found this boat for sale. I have heard that they are wet riding boats but that has been the only negative. I chase stripers and largemouth on Lake Murray and reds and shrimp on the coast. It’s a pretty good deal on a boat that seems like it would work well with what I like to do. I just don’t know anyone who has had one or fished out of one.

I have a 218 Bay Ranger. Not sure where you heard they’re wet, they’re the driest boat on the bay bar none. What motor is on the one you’re looking at, I love mine and don’t think there is a better boat out there.
The boat has a Yamaha F150 (less than 185 hours), jack plate, trim tabs, etc. I believe that trim tabs and the jack plate were standard on this boat. I asked for opinions on another forum and the only response that I got was that they were wet riding. I am driving a long way(7 hours) to look at this boat and I just would like to know what to look for or lookout for. I have seen pictures of the boat and it looks to be in almost like new condition but I know that pictures can be deceiving. I can not find much in the way of customer reviews on the internet.

My father had Ranger bass boats so I am familiar with them. I can only assume that the same quality goes into their bay boats. It’s a long way to go to end up disappointed.

Call Josh @ Southern Drawl Outfitters (843-816-2229) in Bluffton. He has one he charters out of. I can’t imagine it is a wet riding boat. I have a Ranger 191 Cayman flats boat and is a very dry stable ride. The F-150 Yamaha is a very good motor. I had over 800 hrs. On my previous boat with no problems.
Ranger bay boats are good boats. Becareful if the boat you found is on Craigslist and in Florida. I found one earlier this summer and it turned out to be a scam. It had a really good price and very nice pictures.
