Alright, took out the yak for it’s maiden voyage tonight on the Catawba.
I’ve only ever paddled a SIK and a 2005 Tarpon 15 so my assessments are based in limited variety…
This boat by far out performed the tarpon in stability, areas to mount accessories and tracking…speed was about the same really. I feel the Moken is easier to paddle.
The moken seat is garbage, the backrest straps won’t stay tight and after 3 hours my butt was numb. The SIK I paddled an old town predator 138 seat was great i sat in it for 7 hrs with no issues. The Tarpon and SIK were definetly lighter. I loved the open front on my moken and the foot rest are far better than the tarpon and sik, wide and super easy to adjust.
All in all I’m happy I went with it, once I fix the seat issue I’ll be a happy camper
