The date of the tournament has been confirmed for Saturday, May 17th 2008. Format will be the same as last year’s tournament. We will be fishing for Tuna, Dolphin, and Wahoo only. No Kings in this tournament. We will have a separate tournament later in the year for Just Kingfish.
Winners will be determined by the total combined weight of the largest dolphin, largest wahoo, and largest tuna caught from each boat. For example, if I go out and catch a 50 lb Tuna, a 60 lb. wahoo, and a 30 lb. dolphin, I would have a total of 140 pts. The boat with the most points will be awarded 1st place. Money and prizes will be awarded to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place boats.
We will also have optional categories for the largest Dolphin, largest tuna, largest wahoo, and overall largest fish caught in the tournament. The winners of these categories will receive cash determined by the number of participating boats and sponsors.
There will also be a Tournament within a tournament (TWT) or Calcutta for those who wish to participate. This will take place at the captains meeting Friday, May 16th at Crazy Sisters Marina. The captains meeting will begin at 7pm on Friday. At least one member of each boat is required to attend. We encourage everyone to attend. We will have food and adult beverages, live music, and sponsors will have booths set up.
Fishing will commence at 7am Saturday morning and end at 3pm. Boats may depart from any port as long as it has been documented and approved by the tournament committee. Fish will only be weighed at the designated weigh station at Crazy Sisters Marina in Murrells Inlet. The scales will open at 5PM and close at 7PM. Fish may be transported by car to the weigh station only if you have prior approval from the tournament committee (More to follow in the tournament rules). A member of the boat must be present to weigh in the catch.
Following the weigh in, we will once again be having dinner, drinks, live music and awards. Each boat will receive a tournament bucket with drink and meal ticke
