Hi guys I generally don’t post but I had so much fun I had to
Here’s a quick after action report…
Well, first off a big “Thanks” needs to got to YOTF & Mrs YOTF for the hospitality shown to me this weekend. Food, and bed were a lot better than finding a camping spot!
Now onto the fun stuff. I woke up at 3:50 and somehow managed to drive myself down to the Bilo at the Parris Island gateway. Took a short nap while waiting for the rest to show up. YOTF showed up and eventually a few other yakers as well. At 630 we all headed over to the base for our passes and to get ready. After waiting about 10 minutes for the passes we headed to the launch. At a blistering 5mph. We had timed our arrival to be behind the morning PT run. I have never seen in one place a larger group of young ladies who could probably kill me… lol. We finally hit the launch and the water and head out with 5 of us:
Myself, YOTF, Bruce (I cant remember your screen name) and 2 others who I’m sure will post up (I’m horrible with names).
A few of us go to working the shallows for some croaker and whiting to toss to them. I gave up after about an hour and broke out some frozen menhaden and tossed out the rig. About 10 minutes later I get my first hit of the day… Yup 2 Horseshoe crabs on the Sabiki rig :o well only one was on the rig, the other was… umm… taking advantage of the female… I pull them in and try to remove the rig and as I’m working it, BAM something hits my big line. whoops over go the horseshoe crabs, rig and all, snap goes the line. Grab the main, drop anchor and proceed to have some fun, landed this guy and released back unharmed.
The swells started picking to 2 footers or so, and the wind started picking up as a rain storm moved in. we called it a day a little after 1. Everyone had slime in the yaks.
Day 2. After passing out for 9 hours @ the YOTF home base I awoke eager to start again.
