The Second Annual Lowcountry Tarpon Tournament will be held Sept 16th and 17th out of Mcclellanville, with fishing taking place anywhere in Chas or Gtown counties. The goal of this event is to promote conservation of an invaluable recreational marine resource through the raising of funds for leading-edge research at The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust (BTT). The inaugural tournament last year, proved successful with many boats experiencing great fishing both days. Over twenty fish were hooked and twelve boated by the sixteen boats and thirty-eight anglers fishing. By South Carolina standards, this was a good tarpon bite. All we need is more boats fishing this year!
Hells Bay Boatworks has stepped up to the plate and offerd a Glades Skiff to the angler that breaks the SC state record for tarpon (something that gets done all the time). This catch must be measured and tagged by Dr Jerry Ault, the lead biologist at The Bonefish and Tarpon Trust. The details and registration info for this event can be seen here:
