We would like to invite evryone to come fish the South Carolina Wahoo Series.
Captains meeting Saturday 1/26/2013 1:00pm at Redfish Restaurant HHI off Palmetto Bay road.
The series will start on 2/2/20113 and run through 4/2/2013.
It is a captains choice event, captains declare 2 fish days within the tournament dates.
Boats can weigh one fish each day and the winner will be determined by the heaviest 2 fish aggregate.
There is also a bonus day opportunity by fishing in the 9th Annual Hilton Head Harbor Wahoo Shootout!
This is a fisherman friendly format, the wahoos and blackfin are bitting and if you plan on fishing the stream this season why not take a chance on winning some cash as well.
9th Annual Hilton Head Harbor Wahoo Shootout will take place on April 4th - 6th. Captains meeting will be held on Thursday April 4th 6:30pm and captains declare their fish day either Friday or Saturday.
Ill do a post on this soon. And the web site will be updated soon with info on both events. www.islandshootout.com
We welcome everyone to fish, and part of our plan for growing this event is eventualy to have multipul weigh in stations. How ever it is not as easy as just weighing in anywhere, scales have to be identical, there are a lot of details that have to be right, and any time money is invovled Accuracy and Details are a priority.
The sure fire way to make this happen is to support the event and help us grow interest up your way. We are all for it and yes we want this event to represent the entire state.
Look, I am no expert in running a series. I do know that with 22 boats in the first series last year it was important for us to do everything accuratley right down to the tiniest details.10k was at stake. The details were critical for the success and more importantly the Credibility of the event. As the number of participants grow so does the responsibilty of the director and staff and when the time comes to add another weigh station it grows a lot more. Unfortunatly there is more to it than just hanging a scale somewhere, if you get a chance to read the rules you can begin to see why. I will be happy to talk about it with any one, and am always looking for help to improve, please feel free to call me 843 298 0377.
I just want to give you guys a great event to fish and we had to start somewhere!

Maybe you are not open to ■■■■■■■■, but just trying to help. There are certified scales all over the state and they are good enough for the Trident, most other tournaments, and state records. I just think you are putting un-neccesary burden on yourself.
I’m another boat that would fish this if there were a Georgetown weigh in location but definitely have no desire to drag my boat to HHI to fish. I’m guessing if there were another weigh in location it would probably go to Charleston so it would still keep us people who fish out of Georgetown out unless we want to travel. Might be a good idea to keep a running list of peoples names that would be willing to commit to fishing this if there were multiple weigh-in locations. I’m gonna save my gas money for fishing not dragging the boat up and down the road. Good luck with the tournament. I’m sure it’s a lot of fun.

I would fish this if there was multiple weigh-in locations. The mid-atlantic 500 tournament has multiple weigh in locations and the tournament is worth $500,000.00 bucks. With fuel prices, hotel, fishing expenses, and the over all economy for $10,000 is not worth it to me. If you make multiple weigh-in locations let me know.
You guys are exactly right! Those events have multiple weigh ins and are successful. We can have it to all we need is enough interest.
skinnej, I am open to advice, but just telling me there are certafied scales every where is not much. We need a location, a place that is willing to committ resources, time, people, let me know what you come up with I am open.
Chad I am sure you relizes that the mid atlantic 500 runs a great event, and they do with a lot of hard work, planning, resources, and people. And that it is no easy task. I know we are not at that level but I learned last year that 22 boats was no easy task and as the field grows it wont get any easier. So when we do it we have to do it the right way.
Lake Murray Viper, its a fish as you wish event out of your own back yard, no hotels, no trailering boats.

I will let you know when I decide to be a tournament director.
Guys-- Capt Marc puts alot of time in making this happen and more hands are needed to make the tournament bigger and more complicated. Im sure that each of you knows just from where you work and people you are friends with…that in 2012 everyone has different ideas, different schedules, different attitudes and different complaints about every possible thing. Capt Marc is the one that has to deal with all this to run this tournament and it definitely isn’t easy. You can fish out of any port but you must drive the fish in your car to bluffton to the weigh station (as of now). I don’t know many people that wouldn’t take a several hour car ride once or twice for $10,000 if they were gonna be fishing anyways and thought they were good enough to win. If you only fish 1/2 million dollar tournaments then you are probably too good to fish this tournament anyways:) The odds are that many people around the state would like to fish and like the possiblity of winning the money and getting a big fish, but who is actually willing to help out and make it work ??? I was the only non HH boat to fish last year and I will go by Haddrells West Ash to talk with scott and dee tomorrow.
Lets do it guys call your contacts and see if anyone has a location that would support it plus get some free exposure out of the deal… Tell them to order in a bunch of baitmasters and offer it to the participants at a discount. Its good for their business and good for our sport.
I personally would love to see 50 plus boats in this…
Come to think of it i dont have a boat yet anybody need a crew member out of HHI?
