These are my 2014 goals. 1) Catch personal best redfish (accomplished 1/4/14) 2) Trout over 22" 3) Catch 5 species I never caught before 4) Catch a billfish 5) Take 3 people kayak fishing for the first time. 6) Two top 10 finishes in kayak fishing tournaments. I set the bar fairly low and hope to accomplish every one of my goals.

I don’t live in charleston, but come down 15-20 times a year and just started fishing last summer when my brother and I bough boat
I definitely have more of the fishing bug than him, but my goals are:
To find more “honey holes”, I’ve probably been out on the boat 7 or 8 times in an earnest attempt to catch fish, all inshore, and had 1 or 2 good outings where we’d get into a bunch of fish, but mostly it would be one of those 4 hours, two trout, rat red and a stingray type of day. So I want to find a few more places so that I don’t waste all day in a hole that isn’t producing.
I want to get up to where I’m comfortable and knowledgeable fishing the jetties and nearshore reefs and hopefully catch a big red (15lbs or more) and some bigger sharks (I’ve caught a 2.5ft bonnethead on the ICW, but that’s it) and some BSB (recently invested in a pair of 30lb rod/reel combos, so hopefully I didn’t spend that money in vain).
Overall, I guess my goals are fairly modest as I’m pretty new to saltwater fishing, but in general the goal is to learn to catch more fish, bet a better fisherman so I can have fun and I can take friends and family out and share that fun with them as well

My goal for 2014 is to get my wife fishing again. When we were young and our boys were still tied to her apron strings, we fished regularly. She was always a good sport, and kept the world in perspective, a good balance to my gung-ho attitude. I knew I was going to marry that girl when she accepted a date to go fishing on the Thunderstar with me. She was a 23 year old girl on a boat full of cigar smoking, liquor drinking hard core redneck truckers from North Augusta, and me. She puked and fished, and puked and kept fishing, and on the ride back in she even took a sip of moonshine from a jar. Those truckers were mighty impressed. The boys grew up, we got old, and she passes on the invitations now. Kinda sucks.

I would love to catch a Cobia. Is that possible in the Charleston area somewhere?
I am planning to head to Beaufort in May

2 Catch a blackfin tuna (its the only fish out there that I have yet to catch).

Got my first one last year in 170 feet. I hooked a vermillion dropped him down to about 130 feet. 5 min later cobia!
Caught a bunch of undersized cobia last year in 60-100 ft had a few keepers as well. I want a grouper this year. I have a bunch of new gear that needs to get used.
