2014 Fishing goals

Maybe I missed the thread around new years? But this warm spring like weather for a couple days really got me thinking, and the redfish biting!
What are yalls fishin’ goals for 2014?

14’ Skiff-“Redfish Reaper”

Mine are to catch a Cobia, a tarpon, a redfish OTF, and a trout over 22". I have many more. But I’m gonna try to keep it simple, and attainable!

14’ Skiff-“Redfish Reaper”

to send 100’s pictures and text messages of me fishing during work days to even the score with the a-holes who have done it to me for oh these many years.

you know who you are.

To send 200’s of pictures of fish on workdays and tag #peapod in them!

Mine are the same, but I want a 24" trout. My GF caught a 23" last year. I’ll never hear the end of it.
I fish in FL a lot, so it’s very attainable.

I’d also like to get a tripletail and kingfish this year.

At the end of last year I started a bucket list I keep on my phone.
In no particular order:

Big Striped bass
Tarpon
Tripletail
Peacock bass
Musky
Goliath Grouper
Bonefish
Cobia
Wahoo
Sailfish or any billfish
Roosterfish
Kingfish
Big Permit
Smallmouth bass
Double Digit Largemouth
Overslot snook

I keep adding them every time I hear of something interesting to catch. I’m also limiting this list to N. America.

Mako 1901 Inshore-Honda 130
10% of the people catch 90% of the fish.

cobe

grouper

tripletail

in that order

Cobia during the spring run…
Tarpon - never had the chance to catch one.

I want to learn more about fishing offshore this year.

My uncle is getting old and told me over the weekend that he has catching a tarpon on his bucket list, so now I have to figure that out too.

I’m hoping to catch anything at all! We just got our first boat and we are going to be hunting around and hoping to find some fishing holes. We will probably stay inshore and away from the jetties until we get more experience riding around. I can’t wait to get out there and catch anything from toadfish on up!

I’d love to get out and do an offshore trip. Only been once and caught a couple of dolphins. Never bottom fished for grouper. snapper, etc…

Frankly, just getting down to fish seems like a lofty goal lately. Sadly my life is not my own right now.

Swordfish. Pulled hooks on some a few years ago but haven’t been back since.
Also yellowfin tuna but I may have that covered since I’m heading down to the oil rigs in the gulf in a few weeks.

Angler’s Dream

knocked off a few in 2013! still got some to go

-wahoo (thought I had one last trip, morphed into a mako, I’ll take it )
-cobia (missed epic trip due to work, gotta make it happen this year)
-actual solid trolling trip for phins
-continue to learn more about navigation and rigging offshore baits. I appreciate the patience folks have shown me, will continue to learn and hopefully take the burden off them when it’s needed
-bloody up the Got2Go III on it’s maiden voyage
-get my new neighbors on some fish in the surf

ill be happy with that!
