First off let me apologize for a long post…but I think it’s worth it…
On June 20, 2014, the third annual Troop Appreciation Fishing Derby is scheduled at the Lighthouse Marina/Rusty Anchor Restaurant on Lake Murray. This is an extension of the 2012 and 2013 fishing Derby sponsored by some patriotic people to show appreciation and to thank individuals for their sacrifices. The enthusiasm shown by the troops has inspired supporters to make it an annual event. In 2012, 15 boats and local fisherman took 43 troops for a day of Striped Bass fishing. In 2013, 21 boats and fisherman took 69 of our warriors out for a day of fishing and fun. This year we plan to take 65 troops and 15 wounded warriors out fishing followed by a donated shore lunch. This number of participants will require 27 boats and volunteer captains with knowledge of striped bass fishing. We currently have 14 boats and captains volunteered. We need an additional 13 boats and captains.
If you are interested in participating in this worthy endeavor by donating your time, boat and equipment (bait will be provided at no cost)to take some troops fishing, please contact any of the following organizers:

Wanted to bump this up. Latest email says they still need 4 more boats…come on guys… let’s get some more boats. The more the better…
As you can see they have changed the date to the 27th of june. This was copy and pasted from the MSC side…
Captain Mike Glover has been able to move the date of the Fishing with Troops event to June 27th. This way the event as previously planned will not conflict with pre-fishing for the MSC June tournament. Please let Captain Mike know if you will be available to help.
Planning for the 2014 Troop Appreciation event has gone well. We have confirmed we will be taking 65 active duty troops and 15 wounded warriors. Twenty-seven (27) boat captains will be needed to accommodate the head count planned.
To minimize scheduling conflicts and maximize access to boat captains an adjustment to the GO DATE of event is necessary. The new go date for troop appreciation event is June 27th (back up date July 11th). PLEASE check your calendars and send me a note confirming your continued participation OR desire to sign up.
